Odisha Govt to Distribute 5328 Houses in Urban Areas Under PMAY-U 2.0

Bhubaneswar, June 2025: In a major boost to urban housing infrastructure, the Odisha Government has announced the distribution of 5328 new houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0. These houses will be allotted to eligible urban beneficiaries across various cities in the state as part of the government’s mission to ensure “Housing for All”.

The housing units have been constructed with the joint support of the Central and State Governments, under the PMAY-U framework, focusing on economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and marginalized communities living in slums or informal settlements.

Eligibility Criteria for PMAY-U 2.0 Housing

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must:

  1. Be a resident of Odisha and currently living in an urban area.
  2. Belong to the EWS or LIG category.
  3. Not own a pucca house anywhere in India.
  4. Possess a valid Aadhaar card and identity proof.
  5. Apply in the name of the woman head of the family (preferable).

Step-by-Step Application Process:

  1. Visit the PMAY-U official website: pmaymis.gov.in
  2. Go to Citizen AssessmentApply under Other 3 Components or Slum Dwellers (as applicable).
  3. Enter your Aadhaar number to start the form.
  4. Fill in personal and family details, income group, current housing condition, and preferred urban location.
  5. Upload necessary documents like Aadhaar, income certificate, BPL card (if applicable), etc.
  6. Submit the application and note your application ID for future reference.

Alternatively, applicants can visit their nearest Urban Local Body (ULB)/Municipality office to apply offline with necessary documents.

Government’s Commitment to Urban Housing

Housing and Urban Development Department officials highlighted that this initiative is part of Odisha’s continued commitment to improving urban infrastructure and uplifting the living standards of the urban poor.

In the previous phase of PMAY-U, Odisha had successfully distributed over 1.2 lakh housing units, and the state is now focusing on rapid delivery and transparent allotment in Phase 2.0.

Officials confirmed that allotments will be made through a transparent draw-of-lots system, and beneficiaries will be informed via SMS, official websites, and local notice boards.
